God does not look around, and say I will make this one do this thing and that one to do that thing; we have a free will to choose which way we will go and what we will do. God did not say to the pastors of our Baptist church; go and pastor this Baptist church. God said Bruce and Kim could be a great help in spreading the gospel. When Bruce and Kim felt the presence of the Holy Spirit nudging them to service, they both had to be (willing) to say yes to Gods plan. Not only that, they would have to fight the good fight against sin for the rest of there earthly life, which is an impossible thing to successfully do, without Gods protection, guidance, and direction.
John 1: 12 through 13. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
The road less traveled is Faith, getting you to a place where you can hear the word of God, and be (willing) to continue hearing the word of God until the Holy Spirit presses you, into accepting salvation through Jesus Christ. Romans 10: 17. So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
You must be born again, that means you must be (willing) to acknowledge to God in a public way, that you believe that his son Jesus suffered and died on the cross, so you could be saved, and spend eternity in Heaven. Jesus allowed himself to be beaten, tortured, spat upon, humiliated, and suffered untold horrendous pain until physical death took place on the cross, for you. God created man and woman for his great pleasure, free from sin and placed them in a beautiful place. When Satan, tricked us into choosing disobedience over obedience, we fell from grace. God, through his son Jesus, then offered us a way back to an eternal spiritual association, with him through his son Jesus Christ forever and ever.
John 3: 16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God knows your heart, and your mind, and you cannot fool him by casually saying that you are willing. As a mater of fact, you cannot come to know him on your own.
John 6: 44. No man can come to me, except the Father, which hath sent, me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
When God, knowing what is in your heart and mind. Sees that, you are using all the strength that you have in trying to accept his offer of salvation through his son Jesus. He sends the Holy Spirit to give you the extra strength you must have, to go along with your strength to be able to take Gods acceptable steps toward salvation. Anyone who has truly been saved knows exactly what this is all about.
Psalm 23. The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leaded me beside the still waters. He restored my soul: he leaded me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepare a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anoint my head with oil; my cup rennet over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
