A true Christian is one that has recognized sin, repented of their sin, and has placed their trust in Jesus Christ alone. It has nothing to do with following a moral code, or following a doctrine, or a list of do's and don'ts. It is about grace, and faith of being born again.
Ephesians 2: 8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God. One of the things you have to watch out for once you have been saved, is putting too much on your agenda. This will nullify your effectiveness for God to use you in his will for your life. This should be to glorify him, and his agenda. There is a system that I was taught, while I was in business training. One would do a great job and be given more responsibility, the added work would cause him to do a fair job and he would be given more work and then he would do a less than fair job and that is when his effectiveness was compromised. Doing things our way instead of letting God direct us can be very discouraging and unprofitable for God and you! John 15: 4 through 5. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except that it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Thank God, that when you were saved, God gave you the Holy Spirit to dwell in you to comfort, guide, convict, and teach you in all his ways, so you might be pleasing in his sight. The Holy Spirit will convict you when you are in a wrong place, if you dress wrong, or your friends are not upstanding, or when you are out of God's will. Otherwise, you would not stand a chance against Satan and the dark rulers of this world. They would make you suffer humiliation, embarrassment, sickness, poverty, disrespect and the list never ends. Moreover, the problems you would develop could very well drive you to suicide or worse. When you have no one around in the flesh, to guide you, you can count on God's Holy Spirit that is within you to guide, save and protect you.
John 14: 26. But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Romans 8: 26. Likewise, the Spirit also helped our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the spirit itself makes intercession for us with groaning which can not be uttered.
God created you, and he created you for his great pleasure. There are many misconceptions about that as some think that God is around for there great pleasure. God will never force anyone to love him, which is why he gave you a free will with consequences. If you choose to love and please him, then your rewards will be great in Heaven, But if you choose not to humble yourself, and be like Satan and elevate yourself to God's level or even above him in your eyes, then there are grave, unimaginable, consequences waiting for you.
